Fixing stuff around yourself.

I was sitting in my room, taking my lectures. In lectures there was a task mentioned that I have to fix something around myself. So I started to look at my surroundings. In the room I found that my sitting chair was in a messy condition which needed to be fixed. A laptop bag, my wallet, power bank and a printer was placed under my chair(you can see in the attached picture below) which needed to be fixed, because that was not the place for these things.

Before

The thing that is wrong with the above picture is that the things are placed out of order here. The chair is used for sitting purposes but the purpose is not being served here. So for fixing this thing I had to get up from my bed and I picked up the power bank, put it in the laptop bag and then I picked the laptop bag and printer to put it in my cupboard. I placed the wallet into my drawer and in that way I fixed the mess from my room’s chair. You can see the ‘after’ picture below.

After

How did I feel after completing this task?

I felt very easy after completing the task. I felt that my workload has been minimized and now I can focus on other things. Fixing the things gives you more motivation to perform further tasks and It gives you the feel of completing your work on time.

Would I have still done this task if I hadn’t asked to do so?

I would have still done this task but not at the same time because I used to procrastinate the things which is not a good attitude for a growth mindset. I would have done it when some guests would come to my home or when I had no other thing to do.

How does this activity relate to leadership without authority and everyday leadership?

This activity truly relates to everyday leadership. When I fixed my chair, I got vibes to do more and I like things to be organized. In an organized environment your productivity and motivation for doing work get increased. As I’m the leader of things which belong to me. So It is my duty to fix these things too. I also got out of my bed which was my comfort zone to fix the thing.
